What does a Database Developer do?

Databases are an important part of computer operations in almost every company and organization today.  Computers are great tools for storing and organizing information. Database developers tell the computer how to organize information, by designing and building databases. Electronic commerce – buying and selling products and services electronically – works by storing and processing transactions in databases.  Many web sites where you can make purchases on-line have databases attached to them.

This degree prepares students for jobs in database fields including database applications development and database administration.  Students learn skills necessary for design, development, maintenance, management, and administration of comprehensive relational databases for corporations and organizations.  Graduates may seek positions as database developers, database programmers, database administrators, and database consultants.  The Oracle courses in the database degree also provide a foundation for the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams.
