Please call or e me anytime. I will return your call or reply to your e, even if a weekend day, as promptly as I can (unless I am out of town). Your phone number is the most important part of a phone message, so speak that number slowly and clearly. If you e me, sign your note with your name since USER ID's are often not the given name of the sender (I like to know who has e'ed me, so I can personalize my response using the sender's name). I appreciate short, pointed messages.

Course Syllabi

My course syllabi are linked to this page. Please check below to find those syllabi that you want or need and download a copy.  However, if you do not find a link for a course for which you registered, e-mail me, and  I will promptly e a syllabus to you. Make sure you state the exact course name and course reference number for which you want a syllabus. You may also call my office (646-2341), and I will mail you a syllabus. In addition to stating the course exactly, make sure you state your name and mailing address (including your zip code) clearly.

 My Philosophy in a Nutshell

As a professor of literature and language, I strive to change the minds of my students, develop the minds of my students, and set the minds of my students free. I teach students the perennial truths about life as found in the great poems, stories, plays, films, and other works of art. I also teach students to express what they have learned and discovered in clear, concise, but cogent prose. Students leave my classes having a better idea of what is worth knowing and thinking about as well as--and perhaps more importantly--how to think and express their thoughts so that they may effectively engage in the ongoing conversation about living "the life worth living" at the college, in their community, in the nation and--indeed--in the world.
